Kilroy was here
Early one morning when I was ready to begin my the day with a fresh espresso, I found the kitchen door guarded by a cicada. This promised to be an interesting shot. I grabbed my 1D and quickly mounted a 50 mm macro lens, went down to the floor to look the "beast" into the eye. What followed was an extensive starring competition. Looking through my viewfinder the image somewhat reminded me of the graffiti "Kilroy was here", a famous drawing during WW II.
After a few minutes and dozens of images it became clear that I will lose the competition. I helped the cicada out on the porch where it flew away without turning around for a farewell ....
A cicada shell;
it sang itself
utterly away.
