Jan-Patrick got his first camera, a Porst pocketpak, when he was eight years old. During his childhood he travelled with his parents throughout Europe, always taking his little point-and-shoot camera with him. From these early years on he was fascinated by capturing the reflection of light on film. As an avid hiker and motorcycle rider, he has a keen interest in landscape photography. While his camera became a lifelong companion, the art of picture taking never became his profession. Jan‐Patrick is the former President and CEO of Montblanc North America and member of the group’s global Executive Committee. He has been instrumental in positioning and transforming Montblanc into the 21st century and elevating it from a household name, known for its dominance in writing instruments, to a diversified luxury brand. During his tenure, the company verticalized from a wholesale centric brand to a modern maker and retailer with over 360 boutiques around the world. Throughout his career, Jan-Patrick focused on building brands in the consumer goods sector. Beside his work in Europe and the United States, he lived and worked for many years in Tokyo, Japan from where he successfully established and developed the business throughout the Asia Pacific Region.
Jan-Patrick is the President & CEO of Muirbury & Co. He is also the former Executive Chairman of Lifefactory which he sold to Thermos in mid 2017. He serves on the board of directors of Margarete Steiff (Vice Chairman), Alligator Valve Group (Vice Chairman), Thornwillow Press and the German American Chamber of Commerce. He is a member of the advisory board of Retail TouchPoints. Jan-Patrick also serves on the advisory board of the Ethics Institute at Kent Place. Previously, he served on the Board of Directors of “Jewelers for Children”. A charismatic individual with a sixth sense for innovation, he is engaged in cultural and educational programs. He ran multiple campaigns with UNICEF and partnered with The Juilliard School. For many years, Jan-Patrick supported the “The 24-Hour Plays” on Broadway and the “The 24-Hour Plays: Los Angeles”. He is actively involved with Urban Arts Partnership, a New York based organization providing curriculum to underserved schools in the New York and Los Angeles public school system. Jan-Patrick has lectured about global brand strategies at Harvard Business School, George Washington University, New York University and other universities. He has been featured on CBS, CNBC, NBC, Fox, Bloomberg TV, RTL, NHK and many other national as well as international media outlets. Educated in Europe and the United States, Jan-Patrick holds a BA in International Economics, a MBA in Finance and Organizational Behavior and is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma.
