Life teaches us that being prepared is a prerequisite for utilizing the unexpected opportunity. The same wisdom holds true in the world of photography. Spending a few warm summer days at the Chesapeake Bay, I always keep several camera body / lens combinations ready for shooting. This morning I looked out of my kitchen window and saw this beautiful heron sitting on my dock. I grabbed my long lens, opened the door carefully and got a few quick shots before he took off. What a way to start the day.
